Volusia, Flagler schools brace for cuts
Lawmakers linger over budget woes

Volusia schools are expected to lose $8.5 million, and Flagler schools will lose about $1.7 million, under nearly identical plans released by the House and Senate.

Theater's Newest
Curtain Call

DeLand's ancient Athens
reborn once more

Tuesday was opening night at the Athens Theatre. It wasn't the first opening night at DeLand's 1922 vaudeville and silent-movie house, not by thousands. Nor was it the last. Not nearly. The box seats in the newly restored Athens Theatre in DeLand were a great place to watch the grand reopening ceremonies Tuesday night.
