A simmering dispute boiled over Thursday as the Volusia teachers union president accused top school system officials of misleading the public about the district's financial straits.

A St. Augustine man was convicted of two counts of vehicular homicide on Thursday for driving his tractor-trailer rig recklessly on Interstate 95 and slamming into a Volkswagen Beetle, killing two Flagler College students.

Two DeLand men, shovels in hand as they pilfered rocks from a railroad bed, resembled deer in headlights, according to the sheriff's deputy who surprised them.
