Rep. Mica pushes for more flood help
With another storm lurking in the Atlantic and flooding still causing myriad problems throughout West Volusia, U.S. Rep. John Mica was in fighting form Thursday, pushing and prodding officials from every level of government.

Victim updates: some hope,
more frustration
A Federal Emergency Management Agency official looked at Maria Rosa's flooded home from a distance earlier this week and told her to call back after the floodwaters receded. That may take several days -- or even weeks -- but Rosa, whom we first wrote about Saturday, said she still feels good because at least FEMA officials are aware of her problem.

The area's largest health maintenance organization, Florida Health Care Plans, will no longer be affiliated with the area's largest health care provider. Halifax Health's board unanimously approved the HMO's sale to BlueCross BlueShield of Florida on Thursday.

Hotel operators, like meteorologists, have spent much of this week keeping a watchful eye on the weather. They're hoping sunny days this weekend will help brighten the mood of tourists.

Jury wants
death for murder
Cornelius Baker didn't move or visibly react Thursday as a Flagler County jury voted 9-3 to recommend that he be executed for kidnapping and murdering a Daytona Beach grandmother.
